Universal Shield 4.x Has Two Critical Security Bugs.
MoreUniversal Shield 4.x has two critical security bugs:
1. Clear User's Password.
2. Unlock all your protection (for a legal registration version) even if password is set.
How to do:
1. Clear User's Password
(1) Delete the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ServicesUS30SysUSPassword
(2) Now your password is reset, and you can access Universal Shield without password.
(3) This bug is fixed in last release of version 4.2 (i.e. it works in version <=4.1 or some releases of version 4.2)
2. Unlock all your protection (for a legal rregistration version) even if password is set
(1) Delete the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREEverStrike SoftwareUS42Key
(2) Run Universal Shield and click "Unlock".
(If your Universal Shield is in stealth mode, press Win+R keys and type "C:Program FilesUniversal Shield 4.2USPro.exe" to launch.)
(3) Now all your protection has been unlocked, Universal Shield exists in name only.
(4) This bug has NOT been fixed in last release of version 4.2 (2008/9/4).
(5) This bug works for a legal registration version.
